Through the eyes of a child

I have often tried to see the world through the eyes of a child, and although I myself was one so many years ago, I still think that I have some idea what an innocent child may be thinking at times.

I have seen a lot in my life, but I don’t think that I have seen nearly as much as a frightened innocent child in a war torn country.

I often wonder what must be running through those young minds as they cower in corners trying to dodge bullets.  What must they be thinking as they dart from spot to spot trying to stay safe while at the same time finding ways to find food for their poor little under nourished bodies!

How could they be expected to enjoy life as they hide in the shadows of large rocks or watch helplessly as older siblings, parents, and grandparents are killed right in front of their eyes?

What could normal mean for these little ones who definitely did not ask to inherit such disasters?  What kind of a future could they expect to look forward to?  One where they will probably never reach adulthood or maybe and just maybe if they are lucky enough they may just get to hug teddy bears, play with toys, and place their tiny fingers on iPads?

I can only speculate and pray as I sit hear desperately hoping that these children would be fortunate enough to find some sort of reprieve!

Just my two cents for today.
