When I was just a kid I would often ask myself what should I do when I grow up and more often than not I would tell myself to follow my dreams. I do remember that one day I asked my wise old dad the same question and without hesitation he told me “follow your dreams.”
In reality, I have followed my dreams but I will tell you that it has not always been easy to follow them. At times, I have had to make some alterations and changes to them in order to obtain them and at other times I have had to take detours in order to get where I want to go.
For me, it has been a road of checks and balances. A road of evaluations and re-evaluations. A road of trials and errors, several successes and some failures and a long list of learning and development.
I have learned a lot from many mentors. I have been greatly humbled by many experiences. I have witnessed many eye openers. I have experienced many disappointments and shockers. In short, I think that I have seen almost all as I continue to follow my dreams.
I have been down many roads and streets. Dirt tracks and beaches. Garden paths and driveways and I still continue to follow my dreams. Am I sorry that I continue to follow my dreams? Absolutely not! I am still following my dreams today. I continue to have new dreams and I continue to refine others.
As Robert F. Kennedy once said: “Some men dream things and say why! I dream things that never were and say why not?”
Just follow your dreams and see where it takes you! You may be pleasantly surprised to see how much fun it could be. For me, it’s very much like riding waves of various heights and sizes! You never know where you may end up!
