Each time we are told that there is no budget for a company to make its website accessible and usable to persons with disabilities; it means that our right to equal access to information have been disregarded.
Each time we are told that special needs services have been cut due to cost reduction; it means that once more! Our rights to equal access to services have been trampled upon.
Each time we are told that a financial institution has gotten rid of special needs services desks then guess what? Our rights to equal access to services have been taken away!
Each time that a company tells us that they do not provide documents, reports, and bills and statements in an alternate format then guess what? Our rights are not being recognized!
These are just a few examples of what is presently occurring around us today and if we as a community are really serious then we need to speak up and speak out! Each time we are told no, or we are given an excuse or reason that closely resembles any of the above; this is what it all means!
Our rights are being trampled on. They are not being recognized and they are being disregarded.
It is time for us to start protecting and respecting our own rights.
Just my two cents for today.
