Translating a Website for a Foreign Culture | One Hour Translation …
By Donna J. Jodhan
When it comes to translating a website for a foreign culture, great care needs to be taken and why? Because you want to make sure that the translation you use; services, and quality of language are the appropriate ones. What you don’t want to do is this; translate for a foreign culture using a language that is not the language of that culture or being too anglicized in your translation.
Believe it or not, foreign language speakers are very quick to spot the above and do take exception to it. If you were to turn the tables and was looking for English translations from another language you too would be unhappy if the translations were not anglicized. You would be very unhappy if the translations were lacking in proper English terms and slang.
The key to all of this is respect for one’s culture; foreign or not and it is something that can go a long way to building good customer relations. I am going to leave you with a reference to check out. One that focuses very nicely on this topic. Please see below.
