How to Improve Vocabulary When Learning a Foreign Language | Learn …
By Donna J. Jodhan
Today, I would like to impart a few simple suggestions for improving one’s vocabulary and these would hold true any language; be it English, French, Spanish, or Chinese.
The first thing to know is to keep things very simple.
Keep texts simple and clean and do not try to learn words with different meanings to start with.
Example, the verb to know in Spanish and in French; these two languages use different words to represent different meanings of the verb.
In French, it would be Savoir and connaître and in Spanish it would be saber and conocer.
Improving one’s vocabulary is very important to learning a language and using simple translations to create word association also helps.
Take the time to learn as much vocabulary as you possibly can.
Try it and you’ll see how quickly you start to improve.
I am going to leave you with a terrific reference to check out.
