More Accessible Apps Needed — It’s Time to Speak Up!

Greetings! I’m Scott Savoy at the Sterling Creations desk and I hope that everyone is now getting ready for a summer slip into fall!
This cannot be helped so let’s just embrace it eh!
Today I am pleased to share our president’s weekly editorial with you and for this week Donna J. Jodhan focuses on a need for more accessible mobile apps.
This is a very insightful read.
Enjoy your weekend now!

More Accessible Apps Needed
by Donna J. Jodhan

We are living in a world where it is becoming the order of the day for us to be using more apps to conduct both our personal and professional business. All well and good but I would like to submit my own personal appeal to developers, designers, and influencers.
I know that this is the sobering reality and it will only be a matter of time before the app becomes king of the mountain.

In order to ensure that as many consumers and customers are able to use these magical apps, we need to ensure that they are made accessible, navigable, and usable to all. There should not be any halfway effort here. If they are inaccessible, unnavigable or unusable, then they need to be made as stated above.

Developers need to be more mindful of the needs of customers and consumers and designers need to become more aware of the needs of their customers and consumers. Influencers such as Apple and other app developers and marketers need to employ users and testers with lived experience to ensure that the apps that they offer to the market are indeed as stated above.

Companies such as Apple need to work with third parties to start bridging the accessible app divide. I am not blaming anyone here nor am I pointing any fingers. This is simply my personal appeal to all stakeholders out there.
So please! Let us work with third parties and all other stakeholders to change the present landscape.

Just my two cents for today.
