Ask an Expert – July 2022 – Using Taste to Develop an Accessible Career

Donna Jodhan, a woman with short dark hair and glasses, sits at a table with a laptop in front of her.

Before you say no or turn thumbs down on these suggestions; consider these thoughts.

You can definitely increase your revenue and reduce both your internal and external costs and here’s how.

Take it from me! I have been an accessibility awareness consultant and advisor since 1998 and I continue to help companies to increase their revenues, reduce their costs, and reach hidden consumer markets!

Now as a sight loss coach I am helping consumers with sight loss to become more aware of their environment and their requirements and this is helping companies to have a better understanding of how they need to plan and execute their initiatives.

I truly believe that the sense of taste can be used as a very lucrative base to develop some very innovative and exciting accessible careers.

How so? Because the sense of taste is a sense that is often described as one that can be most acute to those with sight impairments. Let us take a closer look.

If this perception is true, and I believe that it is for the most part, there are companies that can definitely very lucrative careers to blind/vision impaired job seekers.

Who could these companies be? Here goes.

  • Food companies.
  • Chocolate and cookie manufacturers.
  • Spice manufacturers.
  • Restaurants.
  • Fast food outlets.

Of course, there are several more potential employers that can be added to this list.

This should be a great start.
