News – May 2021 – Jodhan v Canada (Attorney General) Reprise

Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians logo.Ten years ago, the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC) played a very important role in the Supreme Court case Jodhan v Canada (Attorney General). In the words of the late Richard Quan, it was “a landmark victory for all Canadians!”

But ten years on, and alas! The Canadian Government has still not lived up to its mandate to make all of their websites accessible to Canadians with disabilities.

Recently, David Baker, the lawyer who lead the origina legal team on the case, asked Donna Jodhan to submit a request to the Court Challenges program to request funding to expand the fight of ten years ago.

Donna has agreed and the request has been granted. She had this to say: “I again do it for our kids and for those who continue to fight for our right to equal access to information on all government websites.”
