Ask an Author – April 2020 – Using April Showers

A woman with pale skin and brown hair stands in the rain, surrounded by greenery, with her face turned up to the sky.

Believe it or not, using April showers to help spark one’s imagination and to stir the creative juices is one of the more potent strategies for many authors and why?

It is my firm belief that April showers is a mechanism that utilises the senses of hearing, sight and smell all at the same time and I often use this strategy to recharge my authorship.

There is nothing better than being able to hear the sound of rain as its raindrops drum on roof tops, splash on windows, and fall sweetly to earth. It is an awakening sound to the ear and can trigger sparks of new ideas.

When it comes to being able to see said April showers, think of raindrops of all sizes racing and chasing each other downwards and across surfaces. This is a mechanism that if used properly, can help to kick start one’s creative juices and insert energy into one’s mind after a long cold winter. This signifies the resurrection of mother nature and her bundles of trinkets.

Then we come to the smell of April showers and here is where the sweet fragrance of April showers igniting the smells of freshly cut grass and mounds of earth can definitely help to wake up a drowsy mind.

There is so much more that April showers can do for you and I encourage you to go out there and give it a try.
