And happy Thanksgiving to you, Canada! A wonderful time for us to reflect, remember, and to share our good fortunes with the less fortunate! Today, we are pleased to share our president’s weekly editorial with you, and for this week, Donna has a very reflective question to share with you. Please give her editorial a read, and she invites you to respond to her at info@sterlingcreations.ca. I’m Scott Savoy, wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.
What Colour Is Advocacy?
by Donna J. Jodhan
The other day, an 11-year-old kid asked me that question, and I have to admit that it caught me totally off-guard. I did not have an answer for them because I had to think. So I turned it around and asked my young friend the same question.
In turn, he told me that advocacy had no colour. It was in fact colourless. He further went on to tell me that there was no shape to advocacy. There was no size, and that anyone and everyone could advocate either for themselves or for someone else. He went on to tell me that advocacy was what one made it out to be. They could advocate for the smallest thing or for the largest thing.
Needless to say, I was absolutely taken in by these words. And coming from one so young?
He had a lot to teach me and others! It does not matter how old one is; you are never too young or too old to teach and be taught.
Just my two cents for today!
