Reflections of a Semi-Retiree

A warm welcome to the month of October! I’m Christian Robicheau, welcoming you to the 10th month and hoping that everyone is ready for a fabulous fall. Today, I am pleased to share our president’s editorial with you. For this week, Donna J. Jodhan shares her perspective through the eyes of a semi-retiree. Happy weekend, everyone, and send your thoughts to Donna at info@sterlingcreations.ca

by Donna J. Jodhan

So many times, I have attempted to retire early because of the rapidly changing world of technology. So very often, I simply cannot keep up with the changes in both technology and attitude. But something, and for some reason, keeps calling me back and making me feel guilty.

Should I be feeling guilty or should I just say that I am burned out? I feel as if I have done my part, and now it is time for me to leave it to others. There is never ever a good time to go, but in my firm opinion one needs to know when it is time to go.

I may not be ready for full retirement. I am not yet at the proverbial age to retire. Or should I say that at that age when society dictates that I should retire. So what to do then?

Well? Maybe just to enter into some sort of pre-retirement or semi-retirement? Could this be a good bridge for me? I’ll never know unless I try!

Just my two cents for today.
