The Royal Rules Of Respect
By Donna J. Jodhan
In the grand court of life, respect is the crown jewel—but it is never freely bestowed. It cannot be demanded, borrowed, or stolen. Respect is earned, one action at a time, through sincerity, consistency, and integrity.
Too often, people expect respect simply because of who they are, what they own, or where they stand. But true respect is not a birthright; it is a legacy built through behavior. Titles, wealth, or words cannot command it. Only the way we treat others—and how we carry ourselves—determines if we are worthy of it.
There are no shortcuts to earning respect. No halfway efforts, no false expectations, and no empty promises will win it. It demands discipline, humility, and the courage to do what is right, even when no one is watching. Respect grows from the soil of honesty and blooms under the sunlight of consistent action.
When we earn respect, we do more than gain approval—we build trust, credibility, and genuine connection. Without it, we drift aimlessly, unseen and unheard. Without respect, we are nowhere.
So let us live by the royal rules of respect:
•
Act with integrity.
•
Speak with honesty.
•
Treat others as equals.
•
Commit fully to what you say and do.
Only then can we wear the invisible crown that respect bestows—and only then can we truly stand tall among others.
I’d like to leave you with this for your consideration.
