On January 31st, Donna represented Barrier Free Canada at the Canadian Transportation Agency’s (CTA) meeting. This was a virtual meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and over the course of almost 3.5 hours, the following items were covered:
- Presentation by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Accessibility Strategy
- Presentation by the National Research Council (NRC) – Job Aid for Handling Mobility Aids in Aircraft Cargo Hold
- Presentation by Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) – Accessibility Plan and Progress Reports
- Presentation by Air Canada – Accessibility Plan and Progress Reports
- Presentation by National Airlines Council of Canada – Harmonized Medical Forms
- Trends Discussion – What trends are members observing? Where have you observed the most progress in accessibility? What do you see as the top three areas for improvement?
Donna made a plea for the CTA to take a more prominent leadership role in bringing participants together on a more regular basis to include face-to-face meetings in order to build better team spirit and cooperation.
