Halloween Costume & Decoration Shopping Scams
Scammers create fake online stores advertising “huge Halloween sales” on costumes, decorations, or candy. People pay, but the items never arrive — or they receive cheap knockoffs.
Red flags:

Prices that seem way too low
•
Websites with no reviews or contact info
•
Only accepting unusual payment methods

Charity Donation Scams
In October, scammers often pretend to collect donations for breast cancer awareness campaigns or seasonal causes. Fake charities may contact people by text, email, or social media.
Red flags:

Pressure to donate immediately
•
Requests for gift cards or cryptocurrency
•
Vague information about where the money goes
3.
Package Delivery & “Missed Shipment” Text Scams
Since people order lots of Halloween items online, fake shipping texts become more common. Messages claim there’s a problem with your package and ask you to click a link. The link steals passwords or payment info.
Red flags:

Messages from unknown numbers
•
Requests for personal information or fees
A newer trend is scammers using AI-generated voices or realistic-looking messages to make these scams more convincing.
