The “my sweet boy syndrome”

I am not very sure if this is simply just a bad habit or indeed, is it really a syndrome?  I’ll let you be the judge of this.

Suffice it to say that we as a society seem to be facing a real challenge.  This being that it appears that too many moms are just simply willing to allow their sons to do whatever they like without even lifting a finger to save them from themselves.

No, I am not a mom myself, so I do not have a son, but over the years I have heard these types of reactions from friends and family alike.  Yes, it is all about my sweet boy and an unwillingness on the part of too many moms to admit that their beloved son is not always right and that indeed, they are not perfect.

For the my sweet boy is able to smile sweetly at their moms, while at the same time not being exactly honest with them.  The my sweet boy is given any and everything that he asks his parents for.  Parents bend over backwards to accommodate the my sweet boy, ingratiating them with fast cars, credit cards with exorbitant credit limits, lots of vacations, clothes, and the beat goes on.

The my sweet boy syndrome has probably been around for more years than we care to admit, but over the last decade or so it has gotten concernedly worse and it may be time now for us to take stock and act accordingly.

Just my two cents for today.
