Privacy and confidentiality; how can we preserve them?

When it comes to privacy and confidentiality, I can easily say that these two variables continue to be ones that I need to work so hard to protect.  And why is this?

It is because so many people take these two things for granted.  They cannot really understand when I say that if I allow them to read confidential information to me and if I allow them to assist me to complete forms that request confidential information, then I am giving away my privacy and confidentiality.

Each time I am forced to share such details with someone else as date of birth, social insurance number, email address, mailing address, and any other banking details; it means that I am giving away my privacy and confidentiality.

It does not matter whether or not I know the person that I am sharing with very well, or that I know them some what, or that I do not even know them; it all comes down to the same!  I am giving away my privacy and confidentiality.

Each time I am put in a position where I need to share this info on the phone with a customer service rep or call taker, I am giving away my privacy and confidentiality.  Each time I have no choice but to ask for help to complete a hard copy form or to complete an online form, I am giving away my privacy and confidentiality.

Each time I need to ask a sales person to assist me to complete info on a touch screen, I am putting my life into the hands of another by giving away my privacy and confidentiality.

So what do I do in order to fix this challenge?  I need to advocate for greater accessibility and to build more awareness.

My thoughts for today.
