Let’s take better care of our seniors – they paved our future and now it’s our turn

I don’t think that this is something that we as a whole need to be reminded of.  It is something that should always be implanted in our minds and should be so forever.  However, it seems that sometimes we need to be given a severe jolt and sobering reminder.

I don’t think that here in Canada we were really expecting to learn how horrible it is for persons living in long term care homes and now that Covid is here and has exposed the shameful truth; we as a country need to fix it and to do this today and not tomorrow.

We need to walk the walk!  We need to line up behind our Federal and Provincial leaders and shove them very hard to fix a horrible situation.  I am not sure that words can be used to describe this as a situation!

Call it what you may!  Situation?  No!  A catastrophe?  Yes!  A horrible shame and black mark on our country?  Most definitely!  A failure of our society?   Sadly so!

Seniors are suffering because we have let them down; leaving them to suffer at the hands of a system that has turned a blind eye to their cries for help!  Many care givers are suffering because of being severely over worked!  And loved ones are suffering because they are unable to help let alone see their parents and grandparents at this time.

So where did we as a country go wrong?  Did we somehow manage to desert those who are responsible for having handed us our futures?  Did we inadvertently leave it to money grabbing entities who deliberately chose to make long term care a business rather than long term care?

These are questions that we as a country need to grapple with and to make right when we discover these answers.  My parting words would be; let us work together to fix this!  No more finger pointing!  Let’s just replace those entities with their money grabbing hands with those who will ensure that our seniors will be able to enjoy what they have worked so hard to deserve!  Golden years of comfort and enjoyment!

These are their rights!  These are what they are entitled to!  Nothing less!  They gave their lives for us!  Now we need to man up and pay our debts!

No more cutting services to our seniors whenever we are in cost cutting mode!  They are our priority and we must never forget this!

Just my two cents for today!
