For August 2014:

How to make newspapers more accessible

I do not think that there is too much for me to say here as over the past few years newspapers have become much more accessible to those who fall into the so-called print disabled category. Notably, the blind, partially sighted, deaf/blind, and those who for various reasons are unable to read print.

The important thing to keep in mind as you focus on this particular area is to ensure that your newspaper can be easily accessed in an electronic format that is readable. You need to ensure that if you offer your newspaper through your website that it is easy to find and download.

Here are some finer points that you can use to stay ahead of the game.

Make your e newspapers downloadable in the following formats: HTML, Word, text, and RTF.

Make your e newspapers easy to download. That is, that the download is easy to identify and access.

Organize your headings and content of your e newspapers in a manner that would enable your readers to find what they are searching for in a quick, precise, and easy way.

Create a search box that is easily accessible and easy to use.

Give appropriate names to links so that they can be easily associated to the content that they contain.

These are just some finer points for your consideration but there are always many more for you to work on.
