What can we do to foster more commitment?

In my humble opinion, the world today does not appear to contain as much commitment as it did up until about a decade ago.  I may be wrong in my assumption but I have a funny feeling that there are many out there who will either silently or loudly agree with me.

There used to be a time when commitment seemed to be second nature to the majority of us; but sadly enough, no more.

Today we are living in times when commitment seems to be a thing of the past.  When so many think that it is nothing or means nothing when they break their commitment.  When they believe that proffering an anemic excuse would be enough to break a commitment.   When instead of making sure that their commitment is carried out they defend themselves with attitudes that are disrespectful, condescending, and downright lousy!

I respectfully submit that when it comes to commitment we have learned very little from those brave young men and women who fought in the World Wars plus others.  We continue to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to this out of hand problem and I for one am completely out of suggestions.

I really do not like raising a complaint without having some sort of suggested solution but in this case the only flimsy one that I can offer is for us to start being more aware of a lack of commitment and then to find ways to collaborate on coming up with strategies to stem the tide.

Just my two cents for today.
